JOB SUMMARY

Highmark is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Salesforce Software Engineer with a strong focus on Salesforce Marketing Cloud. The role involves leading the design, development, implementation, support, and optimization of complex software solutions. The candidate will collaborate closely with business and program stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable and efficient solutions within the Payer and Provider space.

Responsibilities include delivering solutions for Salesforce Marketing Cloud projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and best practices; gathering and translating business requirements into technical specifications; providing expertise on Salesforce capabilities and best practices; designing architecture for end-to-end solutions considering scalability, performance, security, and maintainability; collaborating with cross-functional teams for seamless integration; conducting code reviews and providing technical guidance; identifying and resolving technical issues; staying current with Salesforce trends; and presenting/vetting designs with the Salesforce.com architecture team and enterprise review board.

The ideal candidate will leverage business and technology knowledge to influence business processes and systems, mentor less experienced team members, and potentially lead special projects. This role requires ensuring solution integrity, including integrations with other systems (legacy and 3rd party software).

The successful candidate will identify and implement products/solutions that build upon existing Salesforce investments, adhere to standards and best practices, align with enterprise architecture, and optimize cost savings.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Designing and creating engineering specifications for software applications and programs.
  • Designing & writing code that adheres to coding standards; performing code reviews.
  • Generating ideas, exploring, and implementing technical solutions to achieve product features; monitoring technical processes against project plans while safeguarding functionality, scalability, and performance.
  • Participating in all scrum ceremonies as part of an agile team; assisting in sprint planning and completing sprints; communicating issues/blockers to the Scrum Master.
  • Driving story creation (e.g., Definition of Done, Acceptance Criteria, estimation); creating tasks in applicable software (RTC or Jira); updating status and assignments.
  • Monitoring work against schedules; providing progress updates; reporting issues or technical difficulties to lead developers.
  • Mentoring other software engineers as needed.
  • Performing other duties as assigned or requested.
EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.

Preferred

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.

EXPERIENCE

Required

  • At least 3 years of proficiency in designing and analyzing algorithms, data structures, and design patterns for scalable, highly available systems.
  • Experience in at least one modern programming language (Java, Python, JavaScript, ACE, IIB/ITX, Informatica) and familiarity with at least two of the following: React, Angular v4+, NodeJS, NoSQL, HTML5, CSS, Google Cloud, or AWS.
  • Understanding of web services technologies such as REST, HTTPS, JSON.

  • 3-5 years of Salesforce Marketing Cloud administration and deployments.

  • Experience designing and implementing large-scale consumer-facing applications.
  • Strong ownership, urgency, and drive.
  • Passion for user experience and usability improvements.
  • Willingness to mentor junior engineers and develop their skills and leadership.
Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with Salesforce Core Products, Data Cloud, MuleSoft, Heroku, Apex Code, and Enterprise Architecture.
  • Experience with project management, Oracle, data warehousing, integrations, APIs, business analysis, and customer-facing roles.
  • Knowledge of development methodologies including Waterfall, Agile, and Scrum.
