Job summary

SoTalent is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a collaborative team building scalable APIs and backend services powering ecommerce and loyalty experiences. You will design, develop and maintain high-performance REST and gRPC services in .NET, mentor junior developers, and help steer technical direction across the engineering function in a fast-growing company.

You will work with cloud platforms, containerization, and event-driven architectures to deliver reliable and scalable solutions

Qualifications

• 5+ years of enterprise software development with C# and .NET/.NET Core.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs.
• Experience in ecommerce or high-volume transactional environments.
• Strong DB experience: SQL Server, PostgreSQL or Oracle.
• Experience with NoSQL (MongoDB or Cassandra).
• Cloud platform knowledge (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud).
• Containerization with Kubernetes or similar.
• Event-driven architectures and messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ or Azure Service Bus).
• Strong software engineering principles, testing and scalable design.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing and maintaining high-performance REST and gRPC services using .NET and C#
• Building scalable backend solutions that support digital commerce and customer engagement platforms
• Collaborating with product managers, architects and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Producing clean, maintainable and well-tested code with a focus on performance, reliability and scalability
• Creating and maintaining API documentation and technical standards
• Monitoring application performance and identifying opportunities for optimisation
• Participating in Agile ceremonies, code reviews and sprint planning
• Troubleshooting production issues and supporting critical applications when required
• Mentoring junior developers and contributing to engineering best practices
• Helping drive continuous improvement across development processes and platform architecture

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience developing enterprise software using C# and .NET/.NET Core

Required Skills

• Strong experience designing and building RESTful APIs
• Experience developing solutions within eCommerce or high-volume transactional environments
• Solid knowledge of relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL or Oracle
• Experience working with NoSQL technologies including MongoDB or Cassandra
• Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
• Familiarity with containerisation technologies such as Kubernetes or similar orchestration platforms
• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging technologies including Kafka, RabbitMQ or Azure Service Bus is highly desirable
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, testing methodologies and scalable application design
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
