SUVI is seeking a Software Engineer to support our IRS customer in Chantilly, VA to develop, maintain, and enhance custom data adapters in Python as part of the ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipeline. This role involves ensuring efficient and reliable data cleansing and normalization processes and enabling seamless data integration into a standard data model. Responsibilities
Analyze, design, develop, modify, write, edit and implement software programming applications
Analyze and define software requirements to determine specifications and standards
Propose software solutions
Determine the cost of new and modified systems and engages in the proposal process
Design, develop and edit original applications, or modify third-party applications
Test and approve applications
Train users and write training manuals
Design, develop and maintain custom ETL data adapters in Python
Other responsibilities include:
Extract data from a variety of structured and semi-structured data sources including MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL databases; delimited text; and JSON
Develop logic to cleanse, transform and normalize data into a standard data model
Write and optimize SQL queries to extract and manipulate data efficiently
Collaborate as part of an Agile Scrum team, contributing to sprint planning, daily stand-ups and retrospective meetings
Perform rigorous testing and debugging to ensure the stability and performance of data adapters
Optimize ETL pipelines for scalability and efficiency
Prepare and maintain technical documentation for all development work
Qualifications
Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligiblity and ability to pass a CI polygraph
Bachelor's Degree
1-3 years of experience in Python development with a focus on ETL processes
1-3 years of experience writing SQL queries
Proficiency in working with relational databases, specifically MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL
Solid understanding of data transformation, cleansing, and normalization concepts
Familiarity with version control systems such as Git and collaborative coding practices
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment and collaborating within an Agile team
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with the Celery Python task management framework
Familiarity with ETL tools and frameworks
Knowledge of performance optimization techniques for Python and SQL-based systems.
Experience with:
AWS cloud platforms
Scripting languages such as Bash
Containerization technologies such as Docker
Linux environments
Elasticsearch for indexing and searching data
RabbitMQ for distributed messaging
