Innovate is looking for a Software Engineer to support the Technical Support Services Contract (TSSC) at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center near Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This entry- to mid-level role will contribute to the development of web-based mapping tools and geospatial applications supporting science initiatives such as wildland fire management, drought monitoring, and land cover mapping.

Location: Hybrid in Sioux Falls, SD

Salary range: $69,000-$96,000 annually

Position status: Full Time; with benefits

Minimum qualifications: Applicants must have maintained residency in the United States for at least three years and must be able to successfully complete and maintain a National Agency Check and background investigation after hire to obtain required facility access credentials and user accounts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Familiarity with cloud providers and cloud concepts, such as AWS or Azure.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes or other container technologies.
• Familiarity with requirements and design analysis.
• Experience with testing and configuration management tools such as Git.
• Experience with geospatial tools, commercial or open source, including analysis, visualization, or data handling workflows.
• Knowledge of OGC standards, including WMS, WFS, WCS, WPS, and OGC APIs.
• Familiarity with projections, reference systems, and spatial data transformations.
