Job summary

Digital Waffle in San Francisco is seeking a graduate platform engineer to join a 12-person team building the deployment and observability layer that supports production workloads. You’ll work on the backend with Go and the frontend with TypeScript and React, shipping to production in your first fortnight with a named mentor and code reviews from people who’ve done this at scale.

You’ll be mentored as you contribute early, with focus on building reliable systems.

Qualifications

• Evidence of shipping a side project, open-source contribution, or a self-built tool.
• Demonstrated interest in scalable systems and load behavior.

About the Role

Most graduate schemes park you on a maintenance ticket queue for a year. This one doesn’t have one. You'd join a 12-person platform team building the deployment and observability layer their customers run production workloads on. Go on the backend, TypeScript and React on the front, Postgres and Kafka underneath. You'd ship to production in your first fortnight, with a named mentor and code review from people who’ve done this at scale.

Qualifications

• Something you’ve actually built and shipped — a side project, an open-source contribution, a tool that solved your own problem.

Required Skills

• Solid fundamentals in at least one of Go, Python, TypeScript, Rust, C++ or Java.
• Curiosity about how systems behave under load, not just whether they compile.
• Willingness to be in the room four days a week, because that’s how you learn fastest early on.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with deployment and observability tools.
• Familiarity with production workloads.

Pay range and compensation package

$120,000 – $165,000 + equity
