Job summary

CMC Electronics Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer for our Reston, VA site. You will contribute to the full lifecycle of advanced flight management software, applying rigorous avionics standards to deliver reliable systems for commercial and military aviation.

Onsite in Reston, VA, with up to 15% travel as needed. You will collaborate across teams to design, develop, and document software, focusing on scalability and quality in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications include a B.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, CS, Physics, Mathematics, or related field.
  • 2+ years of software development experience.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and RTOS concepts.
  • Understanding of DO-178C certification processes.
  • Familiarity with avionics interfaces and protocols (RS-232, RS-422, ARINC 429, CAN bus, IEEE-1394).

Responsibilities

  • Develop avionics software solutions in line with company and industry standards.
  • Design scalable software architectures that evolve with product needs.
  • Contribute to all phases of development: design, coding, and documentation.
  • Solve complex technical challenges across new and existing systems.
  • Participate in code reviews and peer evaluations to ensure quality.
