Job summary

Tundra Technical Solutions is seeking a seasoned software engineer in Redmond, WA to design and maintain large-scale distributed systems for satellite communication. You will build high-performance databases handling telemetry data and implement ML/LLM-based solutions to optimize networks.

You will collaborate with hardware engineers, network architects, and data scientists to ensure reliability and scalability in a mission-critical environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in CS or related field.
  • 3+ years of professional software development in production.
  • Strong knowledge of design patterns, data structures & algorithms.
  • Must have experience with version control and CI/CD.
  • Must have distributed systems, microservices & cloud experience (AWS).
  • Must-have Docker, Kubernetes, GitLab CI; monitoring with CloudWatch & Grafana.
  • Must handle SQL/NoSQL: PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB; data modeling & ETL/ELT.
  • Experience with ML basics, frameworks, LLMs, NLP; MLOps familiarity.
  • Knowledge of real-time low-latency networks and satellite systems is a plus.

Job description

  • Design, develop, and maintain large-scale distributed systems for satellite communication infrastructure
  • Build and optimize high-performance databases to handle massive volumes of telemetry and operational data
  • Implement machine learning models and LLM-based solutions for network optimization and predictive maintenance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, network architects, and data scientists
  • Ensure system reliability, scalability, and performance in a mission-critical environment
Required Qualifications
Core Software Development
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience in production environments
  • Strong understanding of software design patterns, data structures, and algorithms
  • MUST- Experience with version control systems and CI/CD pipelines
  • MUST- Knowledge of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and cloud computing platforms (AWS preferred)
  • MUST- Experience with DevOps tools: Docker, Kubernetes, GitLab CI
  • MUST-Experience with monitoring tools: CloudWatch, Grafana
Database Building Experience
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing database systems
  • MUST- Proficiency with both SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB
  • MUST- Experience with database performance optimization, indexing strategies, and query tuning
  • MUST- Knowledge of data modeling, schema design, and database migration strategie
  • MUST- Experience with data warehousing concepts and ETL/ELT processes
  • MUST- Solid understanding of machine learning fundamentals and statistical methods
  • Experience with ML frameworks and libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn)
  • MUST-Knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs) and their applications
  • Experience with natural language processing (NLP) techniques and tools
  • Understanding of model training, evaluation, and deployment in production environments
  • Familiarity with MLOps practices and tools for model lifecycle management
  • MUST-Experience with ML/AI tools: TensorFlow, Bedrock
  • MUST- Experience with cloud platforms: AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, EMR, SageMaker)
  • MUST- Experience with data processing: Apache Spark, Kafka, Kinesis
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field
  • MUST- Experience with satellite communication systems or aerospace applications
  • MUST- Knowledge of real-time systems and low-latency network protocols
  • Knowledge of network protocols and telecommunications systems
  • Experience with geospatial data processing and analysis
  • Contributions to open-source projects or published research in relevant fields

This posting is for a contract assignment with Tundra Technical Solutions to provide services to a Fortune 5 Client.

The pay range that Tundra in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $81.00/hour - $87.00/hour.
