Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Hands-on development experience in Java with modern JDK and enterprise frameworks.
  • Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Experience writing and executing unit/integration tests and tracking defects.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, develop, and implement software solutions across new applications and modifications to existing platform components.
  • Participate in all phases of the enterprise performance life cycle and produce lifecycle artifacts for each release.
  • Perform software fixes and minor enhancements within the backlog.
  • Develop and modify code across Java, REST APIs, and UI components of the platform.
  • Execute unit and integration testing and remediate defects from test/production.
  • Prepare release packages and support major, minor, and emergency releases with data-center and cloud teams.
  • Collaborate with analysts, database specialists, and QA to ensure delivered software meets requirements.

DMI, LLC is seeking aSoftware Engineer, Level II, a mid-level engineer who analyzes, designs, develops, and implements software solutions on a federal regulatory submission platform, working on both new capabilities and modifications to existing applications. The role participates in all phases of the agency's enterprise performance life cycle and collaborates across development, database, and quality assurance teams to meet rigorous federal delivery standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Analyze, design, develop, and implement software solutions across new applications and modifications to existing platform components.
  • Participate in all phases of the agency's enterprise performance life cycle, producing required lifecycle artifacts for each release.
  • Perform software fixes and minor enhancements of under 200 hours against the operations and maintenance backlog.
  • Develop and modify code across Java, PL/SQL, application programming interface, and user interface components of the platform.
  • Execute unit and integration testing, support regression and Section 508 accessibility testing, and remediate defects identified in test or production.
  • Prepare release packages and support coordinated major, minor, and emergency releases with government data center and cloud teams.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, database specialists, and quality assurance analysts to confirm delivered software meets documented requirements.
  • Track and report defects in the government-approved defect tracking application.
Education and Years of Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field. An additional two years of directly relevant software development experience may substitute for the degree.
  • 3 or more years of professional software development experience. The contract's labor category definition describes this level as typically requiring 2 to 4 years of experience.
  • Hands-on development experience in Java, including work with a modern Java Development Kit and an enterprise Java framework.
  • Experience developing and consuming RESTful application programming interfaces.
  • Experience writing and executing unit and integration tests and remediating defects through a formal defect tracking process.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL or PL/SQL.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Moderate Risk (Tier 2) Public Trust background investigation and a government PIV credential.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Experience with Oracle WebLogic, Spring Boot, Hibernate, or Jakarta EE.
  • Front-end development experience with Angular, PrimeFaces, or PrimeNG.
  • Experience with Apache Kafka, Apache Solr, or Apache PDFBox.
  • Prior federal software development experience under a formal lifecycle governance process.
  • Familiarity with Appian or another low-code business process management platform.
