Job summary

Aquila Technology Corp. is seeking a Software Developer to join our team in support of defense research programs. You will develop, test, and deploy software for field operations, working with a small team in rapid development cycles.

A strong background in C++, Python, software best practices, and collaboration with teammates are essential. The role is hybrid and requires local presence near Lexington, MA.

Qualifications

  • 1 year – Database Applications (Relational & NoSQL).
  • 3 years – Software Development.
  • 3 years – C/C++, Java, Python, Bash, SQL, JavaScript/HTML/CSS, Matlab.
  • 1 year – Container Technologies (Podman, Docker or Kubernetes).

About the Role

Aquila Technology is seeking a Software Developer to join our team in supporting one of the country’s premier defense research organizations. The team is in need of a versatile Software Developer for several programs involving hardware and software. The developer will be working with a small team to develop, test, and deploy software for operational use in the field. A strong background in C++, Python, software best practices, and willingness to adapt and learn are essential. In addition, strong communication skills and experience working with a team in rapid development cycles is required.

Must Have
  • 1 years – Database Applications (Relational & NoSQL models)
  • 3 years – Software Development
  • 3 years – C/C++, Java, Python, Bash, SQL, Java Script / HTML / CSS, Matlab
  • 1 years – Container Technologies (PODMAN, Docker or Kubernetes)
  • 3 years – Full stack development experience including working on application logic and user interfaces
  • 1 years – Experience with REST, PubSub, APIs, SDKs, and application interfaces
  • 1 years – Experience with distributed systems and computing

  • Experience with multiple application interface, design and message passing technologies like REST, PubSub, development of APIs or SDKs, etc
  • Experience with distributed computing either through working on multiple parts of a distributed system or contributing to the development of at least one part of a distributed system
  • Experience with small compute platforms like Raspberry Pis, Arduino, Jetson or similar edge computing devices

PTO – 15 days (vacation/sick) 10 paid holidays – 6 standard (New Year’s, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas) – 4 floating holidays prorated based on your day of hire:

Tuition & Training Reimbursement- 5K annually for pre-approved, Eligible full-time team members who have completed a minimum of six (6) months of employment may apply for tuition reimbursement for approved, job-related courses taken through an accredited college or university. Team members must achieve a grade of “B” or better to qualify for reimbursement.Aquila will reimburse up to $5,000 per fiscal year for tuition expenses only. Expenses related to training programs, certifications, books, materials, meals, transportation, or other non-tuition costs are not eligible under the Tuition Reimbursement Program. All tuition reimbursement requests must be submitted to and approved by the team member’s Manager prior to course registration. Reimbursement will be issued upon successful course completion and submission of final grades and proof of payment.

401K with Fidelity – Eligible to participate following 90 days of employment. Company match on employee contribution:

  • $1/$1 up to 3%, then .50 cents / $1 for 4th and 5th %s
  • Fully vested from day one
  • Company match does not apply to catch-up contribution

Cell Phone & Internet Reimbursed up to $150 monthly to cover cell phone, data, and home internet expenses. Aquila Technology will reimburse team members who work from home ONLY for cell phone/mobile device fees for work-related communications and/or operations each month. Employees eligible for this benefit must work remote 2 days a week or more to qualify.

Buy Your Own Device (BYOD) –Team members are eligible for reimbursement of up to $1,500 every three (3) years for the purchase of electronic equipment used to access corporate services. To qualify for this benefit, employees must have completed a minimum of six (6) months of employment and must agree to and sign the Device Minimum Configuration Form prior to reimbursement. Electronic devices eligible under the Buy Your Own Device (BYOD) program are limited to cell phones, laptops, and tablets.

Clearance Level

An interim clearance is sufficient for the start of this position.

Work Location

This position is HYBRID. The individual will be required to be onsite 3 days a week. Candidates are expected to be local at the time of the start of the assignment. Final scheduled TBD by hiring manager.

Interview Process

1st round interview will be a Zoom with the hiring manager. 2nd round interview will be a Zoom with additional team members as needed.
