Job summary

Epsilon is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to build secure data solutions for social media, search, and digital ads in a Big Data environment. You’ll work with Java, Spring, Scala, Spark, Hadoop, and cloud migration toward AWS, delivering robust data pipelines and analytics.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong development practices with prior experience writing and testing code.
  • 2–3 years of Java experience building applications.
  • Unix environment experience and Unix Shell scripting.
  • Experience with Spring, Hibernate, Maven and Git is required.
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain complex data solutions for high-volume applications.
  • Create reusable outputs and processes for each solution.
  • Ensure test coverage to support CI and code quality.

We’re looking for an experienced Software Engineer to help us build innovative and secure data solutions for social media, search, and digital ads within a Big Data environment. In this role, you will use best-in-class engineering approaches and secure data management practices to help process terabytes of data each week, while solving difficult problems using predictive analytics and cutting-edge technologies. Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain complex data solutions for high-volume applications, including new systems.
  • Create reusable output and processes as you implement each solution.
  • Ensure test coverage in support of our continuous integration environment and to drive code quality.
  • Use agile and DevOps methodologies to help drive continuous improvement.
  • What is our technology stack? Java, Spring, Hibernate, Scala, Spark, Hadoop, Git, HBase, Unix, Docker, Maven, Ansible, Postgres and migration to AWS is expected down the road. Experience with all is not required, with required experience being detailed in sections below.
Qualifications

What you’ll bring with you:

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similarly related field.
  • Strong development practices with prior experience writing and testing code.
  • At least two or three years of experience using Java to build applications.
  • Hands on experience working in a Unix environment is a must, including writing Unix Shell Scripts.
  • Professional exposure with Spring framework, Hibernate, Maven and Git is required.
  • Experience with SQL and relational database environments is required.
  • Owns a problem to the end, but also proud to share in team’s success.
  • Able to do your best work in a team setting and autonomously
  • Wants to grow a career with a great company.

Why you might stand out from other talent:

  • Experience with Hadoop, Spark, and Scala is a plus.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Experience with AWS is a plus
  • Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines is a plus
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Angular framework, HTML and JavaScript is a plus.

Compensation Range: USD $73,500.00 - USD $136,500.00/Annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
