Job summary

Summit TRC is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team on-site in Huntsville, AL. The role focuses on building and deploying software to enable new capabilities on UAS products, with a strong foundation in software design and defense-focused problem solving.

You will develop across the full SDLC using Java, Python, C++, or C#, design modular architectures, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver APIs, tests, and technical documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline required.
• Active security clearance preferred.
• Experience building and integrating high-quality software applications in Java, C#, Python, or C++.

Responsibilities

• Develop software across the entire SDLC using Java, Python, C++, or C# to meet customer requirements.
• Design and implement modular, object-oriented software architectures and interfaces including APIs and hardware-integrated layers.
• Analyze software requirements to assess feasibility within time/resource limits.
• Deploy, integrate, and support existing applications in test/operating environments.
• Advise and support software maintenance and debugging.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for integration/testing and documentation.

This role will be performed on-site in Huntsville, AL.

Summit TRC is seeking to add a Software Engineer to our team. This role will be focused on building and deploying software to enable new capabilities on UAS products. The right engineer will have a strong foundation building and optimizing applications and have a solid understanding of software design principles. Responsibilities

• Develop software across the entire software development life cycle using languages such as Java, Python, C++, or C# to satisfy customer requirements
• Design and implement modular, object-oriented software architectures and associated interfaces, including APIs and hardware-integrated communication layers
• Analyze software requirements to assess design feasibility within time and resource limits
• Deploy, integrate, and support existing applications within necessary test and operating environments
• Advise and support software maintenance (e.g., bugs)
• Participate in integration and testing of systems through collaboration with cross-functional teams
• Prepare technical documentation, test reports, or other required deliverables

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline
• Active security clearance (preferred)
• Experience building and integrating high-quality software applications in languages such as Java, C#, Python, or C++
• Background in object-oriented programming
• Backend software development experience
• Experience writing and utilizing unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end automated tests
• Experience with modern software deployment techniques and version control tools (e.g., GitLab)
• Strong understanding of Operating Systems (Linux) and command line
• Demonstrated ability to identify and solve complex software-level problems
