Position Overview
HRUCKUS is seeking a Software Engineer (Mid) to support the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Huntsville, AL. This onsite assignment requires an active Top‑Secret clearance and 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Software Development: Design, develop, and maintain applications using Java, Spring Boot, Vue.js, and related technologies.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Deploy and manage AWS services (EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS) to ensure scalability, reliability, and security.
- Data Integration: Automate ingestion and processing pipelines with Apache TIKA and Apache NiFI.
- Search & Analytics: Build advanced search functions and real‑time analytics using ElasticSearch.
- Collaboration: Work with cross‑functional teams, including data engineers, system architects, and security specialists.
- Security: Follow FBI security policies and best practices for secure coding.
- Documentation: Produce clear technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and implementation guides.
- Performance Tuning: Monitor systems, identify bottlenecks, and optimize application performance.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with emerging technologies and advocate for best engineering practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- Proficient in Java and Spring Boot for backend development.
- Experience with Vue.js or comparable frontend frameworks.
- Strong AWS background (EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS).
- Hands‑on ElasticSearch expertise.
- Familiarity with Apache TIKA and Apache NiFI for data workflows.
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles, agile methodologies, and the full SDLC.
- Active U.S. government security clearance (TS/SCI).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Desired Skills
- Containerization with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Microservices architecture and CI/CD pipelines.
- Prior federal or government contracting experience.

- Salary: $100,000 – $130,000 per year.
- Full‑time, onsite assignment.
