Job summary

Serco is seeking a Java Applications Developer for a 100% remote role supporting the DMAPS TAA contract with the US Air Force. You will participate in the Agile lifecycle, designing, developing, and testing Java web applications using Java, Struts, Spring Boot, Oracle, and related tools.

You will work with government and contractor teams to deliver quality software, contribute to testing and documentation, and ensure code meets acceptance criteria. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of Java development experience
  • Or Associates Degree and 4 years of Java development experience
  • The ability to obtain a NACI
  • The ability to Travel up to 10%

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively as a Java Application Developer on an Agile team and can complete user stories and develop/execute usable code and unit test conditions independently with minimal oversight and guidance.
  • Support Agile Scrum methodologies.
  • Contribute to an atmosphere of cross-functional teamwork within the organization; contributes to acceptance/functional testing duties and part of incremental feature development.
  • Adhere to, promotes, and maintains documentation and testing standards and best practices, participants in regular peer reviews.
  • Perform acceptance testing, load testing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning as required.
  • Communicate committed stories for the upcoming sprint to backlog owners and stakeholders.

Serco supports the US Air Force as a sub for their Depot Maintenance Time and Attendance Application (DMAPS TAA) contract which is looking for a Java Application Developer to participate in the Agile application development life cycle for design, development and testing of Java Web Applications, using Java, Struts, Spring Boot, Oracle, Eclipse and others.

You will be part of a team comprised of government and contractors that work closely with other Serco team members to deliver quality support. Our team has been recognized by the US Air Force Program as providing top quality services in support of the customers.

In this role, you will:

Position is 100% remote

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Bacherlors Degree and 2 years of Java development experience

  • Or Associates Degree and 4 years of Java development experience

  • The ability to obtain a NACI

  • The ability to Travel up to 10%

Additional desired experience and skills
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related field

  • Experience with Agile software development practices

  • Struts and/or Spring Boot experience

  • Jira, Confluence, and CVS, Git or Git-based tools (e.g., Bitbucket)

  • Oracle RDBMS/SQL

  • Experience with Linux OS
