Job summary

Beyond SOF in Syracuse, NY is seeking a software engineer to design and develop components for sensors, enabling high-throughput data processing and fault recovery. You will build full-stack web apps for monitoring sensor networks and collaborate with senior engineers on analytics for health monitoring and fault analysis.

Ideal candidates have a 3+ year track record, strong Python and C++ skills, and comfort with embedded Linux. Remote/hybrid/onsite options in Syracuse, NY are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of related professional experience.
• Programming experience with Python and C++.
• Comfort working on embedded Linux operating systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and overcome technical challenges.
• Experience with or willingness to learn Radar, Sensor Systems, DSP, MATLAB, SQL, and web tech like JavaScript/Flask.

Job description

Help design and develop software components that advance our sensors’ ability to:

• Detect and track new types of targets
• Process target data with high throughput and reliable performance
• Monitor performance and health metrics, and autonomously recover from faults
• Interact with cloud-based systems and other network components

Develop full stack web applications for monitoring and operating sensor networks:

• Help develop high throughput / high availability data processing systems
• Work with senior engineers to implement data analytics used for health monitoring, fault analysis, and management of a geographically distributed sensor network
• Maintain and improve existing software

Work in a small, dedicated team passionate about solving challenging problems and delivering results:

• Collaborate with Software, Systems, Digital,and RF engineers to advance overall product capabilities
• Participate in collaborative design and code reviewsPlay an active role in the validation and verification of both design and system-level capabilities

Work within and harden our existing software development best practices:

• Document and clearly communicate designs to peers.
• Test and validate designs to ensure proper and bug free operation.
• Improve CM/CI capabilities and coverage.
