Job summary

Auria seeks a Software Engineer to support BMDS OPIR architecture in a Boulder, CO on-site role. You will design, develop, test, deploy, and debug software across multi-language systems (C/C++, Python, Java) in a collaborative team, leveraging Agile practices and Jira for tracking.

Qualifications include a STEM degree with 2+ years of software experience, or a STEM Master/PhD with varying experience, and a DoD Secret clearance with potential TS/SCI. Expect travel up to 10% as needed.

  • Active in-scope DoD Secret clearance to start and TS/SCI clearance possible.
  • Experience in a Linux environment and proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
  • Strong OOP skills and willingness to travel up to 10%.

Auriais looking to hire a Software Engineer to support the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) Architecture (BOA) program. BOA is the Missile Defense Agency’s next-generation Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) architecture providing automated, real-time missile detection, tracking, and threat classification with advanced data fusion to deliver precise, high-fidelity 3D intelligence. The position is located on-site in Boulder, CO.

As a Software Engineer 2/3, you will be responsible for the design, development, documentation, testing, deployment, and debugging of software applications. You will research, identify, and implement solutions to complex, multi-disciplinary software problems while working in a collaborative team environment.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO:
  • Design, implement, and integrate new software features that smoothly interface with existing systems.
  • Develop software using Agile methodologies, participating in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Utilize Jira (or similar tools) to document user stories, bugs, and enhancements.
  • Provide software engineering support for complex, multi-language systems (C/C++, Python, and Java).
  • Analyze and improve system usability, performance, and maintainability through refactoring and defect resolution.
  • Coordinate with the test team to integrate, troubleshoot, and resolve defects.
  • Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and design through integration, test, and deployment.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
WHAT THE TEAM REQUIRES:
  • Software Engineer 2:Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited institution and 2 years of related software development experience;a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline with 0 years of related experience.
  • Software Engineer 3: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited institution and 5 years of related software development experience;OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline.
  • An active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance is required to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) clearance.
  • Experience developing software in aLinuxenvironment.
  • Proficiency inC/C++andPython.
  • Experience withObject-Oriented Programming (OOP).
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to10%to support business needs.

  • Demonstratedtechnical leadershipexperience (mentoring, task lead, or similar), especially relevant for the Software Engineer 3 level.

PAY TRANSPARENCY:

The salary offered will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications - skills, education & experience - and the position level. $125,000 - $165,000.
