Software Engineer III – Satellite Ground Systems
Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI Required | CI Polygraph Preferred

About the Opportunity:
Talent Stack is representing a defense and aerospace client seeking a Software Engineer III to develop software for advanced satellite ground systems supporting mission-critical national security operations.
You’ll work alongside engineers, architects, and technical leaders in an Agile environment, developing object-oriented Java applications while working with modern technologies and practices including AWS, microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, DevSecOps, CI/CD, and automated testing.
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software for advanced satellite ground systems.
- Develop object-oriented and multithreaded Java applications.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and technical leaders in an Agile development environment.
- Contribute throughout the software development lifecycle using established practices for defense software programs.
- Work with modern architectures and technologies, including multi-tiered architectures, AWS web services, microservices, DevSecOps, and CI/CD.
- Develop reliable, scalable software supporting complex, mission-critical systems.
Required Qualifications
- Active and transferable Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) security clearance is required prior to start. An active and transferable Top Secret clearance that can cross over to TS/SCI is also acceptable. CI Polygraph is Preferred
- U.S. Citizenship is required due to security clearance requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) is required. Masters Degree Preferred.
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant professional software engineering experience. Internships, co-ops, research assistantships, academic projects, and graduate research do not count toward the required years of professional experience.
- Professional experience designing and developing object-oriented software using Java.
- Hands-on experience with Java multithreading.
- Previous experience work in Government Contracting environment preferred.
- Ability to work onsite in Aurora, Colorado.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active CI Polygraph preferred.
- Experience developing satellite planning and scheduling software or comparable systems that coordinate resources, activities, dependencies, workflows, or operational sequences.
- Experience working across the software development lifecycle using SAFe Agile methodology.
- Software development experience using C++ and Python.
- Experience developing microservices in an AWS environment using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with test automation, DevSecOps, and CI/CD processes.
- Experience with development and collaboration tools including Confluence, Eclipse, Jira, Jenkins, JUnit, Kafka, and Spring Boot.
