Job summary

Protingent Staffing is seeking a Software Engineer (UAV Embedded) for roles in Arlington, TX, with hybrid work options and locations in Roseville, CA or Oklahoma City, OK as needed.

You will design and implement mission-critical UAV software in C/C++, linking flight algorithms with avionics hardware and collaborating with GNC engineers using MATLAB/Simulink for deterministic control and reliability.

Qualifications

• Requires BS degree in computing science, computer engineering, or related field.
• Experience with C or C++ programming.
• Understanding of OO principles and RTOS systems.
• Familiarity with SDLC and documenting software requirements.

Responsibilities

Position Description

Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Software Engineer (UAV Embedded) with our client.

• Job Type; Contract
• Duration: Long term need, potential to convert
• Pay Range: $80 - 120/hr
• Location: Roseville, CA, Oklahoma City, OK, or Arlington, TX (Hybrid)
• Required US Citizenship -May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance at the appropriate level.

Job Description

• As an Software Engineer (UAV Embedded), you will architect and implement mission-critical software for our next-generation UAV flight computers.
• You will be the primary link between complex flight algorithms and custom avionics hardware, developing high-performance C and C++ applications that ensure deterministic control and absolute system reliability.
• Working at the intersection of hardware and software, you will collaborate with electrical and GNC (Guidance, Navigation, and Control) engineers to design and implement complex physical-digital interactions with MATLAB/Simulink.

Job Qualifications

• Requires BS degree in Computing Science, Computer Engineering, or other technical discipline.
• C or C++ programming experience
• Demonstrated understanding of Object-Oriented programming principles and RTOS systems.
• Demonstrated understanding of software development life-cycle and clearly document software requirements.
• Hands on ability to troubleshoot hardware-in-the-loop simulation modelling and make firmware updates

Nice To Haves

• Skills with tools such as Atlassian, MATLAB/Simulink, VxWorks, LabView
• Skills implementing interface controls based on MBSE design documentation
• Previous familiarity with OMS/UCI, A-GRA, STANAG 4586, DO-178C, AS910
