Job summary

GreenPath Financial Wellness in Mission, KS seeks a Software Development Team Lead to provide technical and people leadership for internal and external applications. You will set priorities, coach engineers, and partner with Architecture, DevOps, QA, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, high‑quality software.

The role requires 8+ years in software engineering, a BS in CS or related field, and strong Angular and API experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems Technology, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of practical software engineering experience.
  • Experience with leadership, coaching, or mentoring software developers.
  • Experience with Angular single-page applications.
  • Experience developing or integrating microservices and APIs using RESTful, SOAP, or gRPC.
  • Relational databases, SQL, and ORM technologies (EF, NHibernate, Dapper).
  • Experience with Git, SVN, or TFS; Scrum/Kanban/Agile.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and after-hours on-call rotation.

Position Purpose

The Software Development Team Lead provides technical and people leadership to GreenPath’s software developers, supporting the successful design, development, delivery, and ongoing maintenance of internal and external-facing applications.

This position establishes work priorities and quality expectations while coaching and developing team members. The Team Lead works closely with Architecture, DevOps, Quality Assurance, Application Support, and business stakeholders to achieve project milestones, uphold secure development practices, and deliver reliable, high-quality technology solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of software developers through the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of internal and external-facing applications.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership, coaching, mentoring, and ongoing feedback to support individual and team development.
  • Establish work priorities and monitor progress to ensure projects and production-support needs are completed effectively and with a strong focus on quality.
  • Apply secure software development lifecycle methodologies and ensure adherence to development processes, coding standards, testing practices, and secure coding requirements.
  • Create, review, and promote best practices related to application design, software development, coding, and testing.
  • Collaborate with Architecture, DevOps, Quality Assurance, Application Support, and other GreenPath stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet the needs of employees, clients, and partners.
  • Evaluate and apply emerging tools and technologies, including AI-assisted development tools, to improve code quality, productivity, efficiency, and innovation.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including infrastructure and architecture diagrams, platform specifications, application requirements, process flows, and system integration documentation.
  • Manage production-support priorities and ensure technical issues are investigated and addressed in a timely manner.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and recommend corrective or preventive actions to reduce recurring production issues.
  • Manage team resources, monitor work assignments, identify resource needs, and address functional, quality, or productivity concerns.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and engaging team environment that balances innovation and professional growth with accountability, productivity, and quality.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 8 or more years of practical software engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership, coaching, or mentoring to software developers.
  • Experience with single-page application frameworks, particularly Angular.
  • Experience developing or integrating microservices and APIs using RESTful, SOAP, or gRPC technologies.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases, SQL, and ORM technologies such as Entity Framework, NHibernate, or Dapper.
  • Experience with source control systems such as Git, SVN, or TFS.
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, and Agile.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and production-support needs simultaneously.
  • Ability to participate in an after-hours on-call rotation in two-week periods.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Information Systems Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps and modern continuous integration and continuous delivery practices.
  • Experience with unit testing concepts and Test-Driven Development.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve code quality, productivity, or development efficiency.
  • Experience creating technical assessments, architecture diagrams, application workflows, or system integration documentation.
  • Previous formal team-lead or people-leadership experience.
  • Experience partnering with onshore and offshore development resources.

Working Conditions

Work is primarily sedentary in nature with no special physical demands. This position typically works normal business hours, with periodic after-hours support required for production issues, deployments, or other business needs.

The Software Development Team Lead participates in an after-hours on-call rotation in two-week periods. Travel may occasionally be required and is expected to be less than 10%.
