Job ID: 10563610 | Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc.
Are you an engineering leader who has defined a bold strategy for your space and delivered on it? Have you built and led teams through transformation where the ambition grew faster than the headcount, and come out the other side with big results? Amazon Software Builder Experience (ASBX) is looking for a Software Development Manager to lead the team, product and engineering strategy, and delivery of transformative testing and verification solutions at agentic scale at Amazon. We are creating new AI systems that decide what to test, write the tests, explain what went wrong, and close the loop fast enough for an agent to self‑correct without human intervention.
As a Software Development Manager in ASBX, you will be a product and people leader for products across the Testing suite. You will define the strategy for how AI-powered testing capabilities mature from early adoption (10K+ monthly active users today) into the default way every team at Amazon validates software in the AI Development Life Cycle. You will own the product vision, the roadmap, the team, and the results.
You are joining an experienced team that is already shipping. Your job is to force‑multiply it: sharpen the strategy, raise the ambition, grow and support the team, and deliver at a pace that matches how fast the problem is moving. This role requires a leader who has done this before, not someone looking to learn it for the first time.
You lead the team building AI testing capabilities already in daily use by tens of thousands of Amazon engineers, and you are pushing those capabilities from useful individual tools into a coherent testing system that operates across the development lifecycle. On a given day you might be: working with a PE on tech strategy; reviewing architecture and tech designs with your engineers; meeting with another Amazon team as your customer; reviewing Go‑To‑Market progress with our PM, or presenting your roadmap to ASBX leadership and defending the sequencing choices.
Your customers are every builder at Amazon. Your immediate partners are your PE, your product manager, and the teams who own the testing platforms, deployment infrastructure, and AI coding tools that your work builds on and feeds into. The right product decisions in this space compound across the entire company.
Our group exists to make testing in the AI Development Life Cycle a solved problem rather than a growing liability. In the Testing org, our platforms execute millions of tests per day across every AWS region. Our AI systems make those platforms smarter: generating tests, diagnosing failures, measuring sufficiency, and helping builders ship with confidence. The Pipeline Test Fixer alone has surpassed 50,000 daily invocations and reduces median promotion‑blocking time by 25%. TestSpaces is already validated at scale, with a sibling organization running 2 million AI‑native end‑to‑end tests per month across 500+ production pipelines on our execution layer. The capabilities in our strategy range from production to proof‑of‑concept, and the person who leads this team will decide which of them become products and which get cut.
You will thrive here if you have a track record of defining product strategy in ambiguous, fast‑moving technical domains; if you have built and led high‑performing engineering teams through periods of growth; and if you have the conviction to make hard calls on what to build, and what to stop building, when the landscape shifts under you.
