Job summary

Amazon is seeking an SDE II to build the infrastructure layer that connects generative AI to the daily work of Amazon builders. You will design, develop, and test large-scale software and collaborate to shape the vision for our AI-first test tools.

You will mentor junior engineers and work with leaders to grow the testing platforms used by tens of thousands of engineers, delivering capabilities that help ship features faster and with higher quality.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience on large systems.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related experience.
• 1+ years of distributed software applications, tools, or services development.
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.

On this team, you will help shape the future of test automation and GenAI-powered tooling at Amazon. You will deliver features for some of our most leveraged testing platforms, used by tens of thousands of engineers. You will partner with your manager and other leaders to grow the vision for this space and work with your team to build tools that delight our customers.

This is a rare opportunity to shape how thousands of engineers work with AI and testing infrastructure. As an SDE II, you will build the infrastructure layer that connects generative AI to the daily work of Amazon builders—from the APIs agents call, to the platforms teams use to ship new capabilities to customers. Key job responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, test and document large‑scale, multi-tiered, distributed software applications, tools, systems and services using [Java, Object Oriented Design and Distributed Programming].
• Collaborate with your pod/team members to deliver software testing capabilities with an AI-first approach.
• Collaborate with your managers and other area leaders to shape the vision and roadmap for our test tools.
• Grow your team by mentoring junior engineers or guiding interns.

About the team

The Test group in ASBX/Programming Foundations exists to optimize automated testing in the AI Development Life Cycle (AIDLC). We build the tools and platforms that help Amazon's builders test more, test better, and test faster.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
