Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead the development of S3’s Core APIs and drive game-changing performance.

You will own the end-to-end delivery of high-scale storage software, partner with product teams, and mentor engineers across multiple teams to raise the bar on quality and reliability. The role emphasizes strategic planning, design reviews, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver secure, durable, and performant storage at scale.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years working directly within engineering teams.
• 3+ years designing or architecting scalable systems.
• 8+ years leading the development of multi-tier web services.
• Knowledge of the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle and on-call operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers, fostering technical excellence and career development.
• Own end-to-end delivery of software projects from planning to operational excellence.
• Define technical strategy with product managers and cross-functional partners.
• Drive engineering best practices in design, code quality, testing, and reliability to ensure scalable systems.
• Manage team performance through hiring, coaching, and recognition while promoting inclusion.
• Own production service health, on-call processes, incident response, and continuous improvement.
