Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Software Development Engineer for the US ADC Security Engineering team in Herndon, VA. You will own the development, operations, and security of critical services in a classified environment, building tooling and automation to scale secure cloud infrastructure.

You will design high-availability distributed software, integrate APIs, and implement IaC deployment workflows, while working with internal customers to deliver secure, reliable solutions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

AWS Security is looking for a driven professional to join its US ADC Security Engineering team to support the development of tools and automation for Amazon Dedicated Clouds (ADCs) and Cleared Programs. As a Software Development Engineer (SDE), you'll own the development, operations, and overall health and security of the critical services we support, providing excellent customer service to our partners in a classified environment.

In this role you will:

• Own integrations with enterprise and commodity hardware through proprietary and open source protocols
• Build extensible management tooling that delights customers
• Produce infrastructure as code and robust operational monitoring that scales with our growing infrastructure
• Keep the deployment process performant, automated, and well tested so development stays fast

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

A day in the life

You'll spend your day building and operating the tools and automation that support ADC Security Engineering. Expect hands‑on coding, peer code reviews, and diving into distributed systems to improve security, scalability, and reliability. You'll develop infrastructure as code, build monitoring and alerting to keep our services healthy, and automate routine operational work so the team stays fast and agile. You'll also partner directly with internal customers to understand their operational challenges and deliver practical solutions in a classified environment.

The AWS US ADC Security Engineering team builds and provides operational support for the internal tools that Security Engineers rely on across the Amazon Dedicated Cloud space. The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
