Description du poste

What You'll Do

Avalara is accelerating delivery of AI-enabled capabilities across our compliance platform to improve customer experience, increase engineering velocity, and scale global operations. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will build reliable, scalable systems that support global transaction growth and help teams use artificial intelligence in practical, secure, and measurable ways.

You’ll be part of the team developing Avalara1099 (formerly Track1099), a very popular product line built with Ruby on Rails and a Postgres database. This product’s next journey includes expanding its APIs and UI using C# and React. You will join a 15-person Scrum team and report to a Manager of Software Engineering, working remotely, anywhere in the United States.

In this role, you will write reusable, testable, and efficient code using test-driven development, collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams to ship new features, and address non-functional requirements like security, performance, and load. You will also be expected to raise engineering standards through ownership, technical judgment, mentoring, and the responsible use of AI — we expect every engineer, manager, and leader to actively leverage AI to enhance productivity, quality, innovation, and customer value, as AI is embedded in our workflows, decision-making, and products.
