Amazon.com Services LLC in Seattle, WA is seeking a Software Development Engineer to build scalable AI-powered personalization systems. You will design services that leverage large language models, handle latency, model drift, and deploy end-to-end, collaborating with Applied Scientists and cross-functional teams to ship reliable systems at scale.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience for new or existing systems.
• Experience programming with at least one software language.
• Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (e.g., object storage, document/key-value stores, graph databases).

Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Engineer, you will build systems at the intersection of AI, real-time data, and customer personalization at Amazon scale.

• Design and build services that use large language models to extract structured knowledge from natural language and serve it in real time across Amazon's biggest customer surfaces.
• Build reliable infrastructure around AI systems that are inherently unpredictable, handling hallucinations, latency spikes, and model drift so customers always get a great experience.
• Develop pipelines that process millions of customer signals daily into durable, retrievable, personalized data stores.
• Create monitoring and evaluation frameworks for AI outputs where traditional testing doesn't apply, including automated quality measurement and human-in-the-loop validation.
• Collaborate with Applied Scientists to take models from research to production, owning the path from prototype to scaled deployment.
• Build customer-facing feedback loops where real-world corrections compound system quality over time.
• Ship fast and incrementally, owning the full lifecycle from infrastructure to alarms to on-call.

We identify what customers care about from signals across all of Amazon and curate it into personalized experiences for every person in their life. Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
