Job summary

Amazon's Personalization team in Seattle is seeking a Software Development Engineer II to design, build, and maintain scalable data-driven software for recommendations that delight customers. This role combines hands-on engineering with leadership and ownership of critical data pipelines.

You will collaborate with ML, data, and product partners, contribute to architecture, review code, mentor teammates, and ship high-quality features on schedule in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering and SDLC best practices.
  • Knowledge of ML/LLM fundamentals, transformer architecture, training/inference lifecycles.

Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning and LLM fundamentals, including transformer architecture, training/inference lifecycles, and optimization techniques
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience in developing and deploying LLMs in production on GPUs, Neuron, TPU or other AI acceleration hardware

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
