Piper Companies is hiring a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) for an Education Technology and Services company located in Chapel Hill, NC. The SDET will work on site in Durham, NC 2 days per week on a 9 month contract, applying coding and QA skills to automate frameworks.

Responsibilities include designing tools, developing test plans, executing API and functional tests, and integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of SDET experience with strong coding and software quality skills.
• Proficiency in Python and TypeScript.
• Hands‑on experience with Cypress, Playwright, and test automation for web apps and microservices.
• Familiarity with automation frameworks (Modular, Keyword-Driven, Data-Driven, Hybrid).
• Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines and working with DevOps tools.

The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) role requires you to work on site in Durham, NC 2 days per week and is a 9 month contract opportunity.

• Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines and working with DevOps tools

Compensation for the Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

• $45–$52 per hour based on experience
