The Sustainability Measurement & Abatement Technology team builds technical solutions to track, record, and forecast Amazon's WW impact on the Environment (i.e., Carbon, Water, Waste, etc.). This includes calculating past and current impacts and future abatement plans, ensuring credibility through standards and validations, and highlighting non-obvious opportunities for Amazon’s global business teams.

We are seeking Software Development Engineers to partner with the customers, stakeholders, product managers and Data Scientists. This role will define and execute the product goals. You challenge yourself and others to constantly come up with better solutions.

You're a thought leader, but you don't just know how to solve the problem, you prove it by building the solution, have a high bar for code quality and passion for design and coding best practices.

Key job responsibilities

1. Design and develop critical components of world class, scalable distributed systems.
2. Develop features and solutions that span the full software stack, UX, API, DB, ML modeling.
3. Interface with our internal customers and technical leadership to inform and understand requirements and priorities.
4. Take on difficult, ambiguous problems and articulate solutions that will serve the broader Amazon.
5. Help develop long-term technical strategies in the product supply chain space.
6. Mentor and advise junior engineers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
