Job summary

Amazon Web Services, Inc. is seeking a Software Development Engineer II within the AWS Applied AI Solutions organization in Seattle to own data lifecycle features from ingestion to model training. You will refine storage platforms, build secure interfaces, and collaborate with scientists to deploy AI-powered capabilities while ensuring privacy and compliance.

You will mentor peers, drive platform governance, and help scale self-service data tools for enterprise customers.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience
• Experience with full software development life cycle including code reviews and operations
• Experience designing data storage systems, ETL pipelines, or ML training infra
• Proven track record building distributed systems with event-driven architectures
• Experience with data security, privacy compliance, and data retention/deletion mechanisms
• Working knowledge of AWS services for data processing and ML such as S3 and SageMaker

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver complete software features for event-based data storage systems from design to deployment
• Maintain, refactor, and enhance storage and analytics platform for performance and scalability
• Design and implement data access interfaces and authorization systems
• Mentor team members through code reviews and knowledge sharing
• Resolve operational issues by identifying root causes and implementing fixes for compliance features
• Translate requirements from business application teams into scalable technical solutions
• Drive security implementations including encryption, access controls, audit trails, and PII handling
