Software Development Engineer - FinTech, Fintech - Tax

Amazon's Financial Technology team is seeking passionate, results-oriented software developers to work on massively scalable and distributed systems. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands large data sets and transactions, and is eager to deliver innovative software leveraging Amazon Web Services. Our platform supports Amazon's global finance, tax, and accounting functions.

As a team member, your mission will be to design, develop, document, and support scalable, distributed real-time systems. Using languages such as C++, Python, Java, and employing object-oriented design patterns, distributed databases, and storage techniques, you'll build software that meets complex, evolving business needs.

We welcome candidates with diverse experience levels, from recent graduates to seasoned technical leaders. If you're ambitious, innovative, and meet the qualifications below, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and develop solutions optimized for Tax customers.
  2. Contribute to the definition, vision, design, and development of a new platform from start to finish.
  3. Engage in all project phases: requirements review, service design, interface development, integration, testing, and deployment.
  4. Collaborate with engineering teams on daily activities, design reviews, and code reviews.
  5. Evaluate and utilize AWS technologies like RDS, DynamoDB, RedShift, S3, SWF, and QuickSight to build backend services and APIs.
  6. Design and implement technical solutions using tools like AngularJS, React, Node.js, JQuery, and SQL Server.
  7. Contribute to tools hosted on AWS infrastructure and develop dashboards and visualization services.
  8. Work iteratively within agile methodologies.
A Day in the Life

This role involves close collaboration with Tax teams to understand their business challenges, adapt quickly, and prioritize customer needs. You will build quick solutions, create prototypes, and recommend appropriate solutions. You will also work with peers on designing solutions, performing deep dives, and conducting code reviews. Operational responsibilities include resolving tickets and maintaining system health.

About the Team

Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship)
  • 2+ years of experience in system design or architecture, focusing on reliability and scalability
  • Experience supporting title development, release, or live operations in the Video Games Industry
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language
Preferred Qualifications
