Software Development Engineer, EC2 Placement

Build systems that optimize how EC2 matches requests for instances with underlying compute capacity. EC2 Placement seeks talented engineers to develop online and offline optimization systems for compute workload scheduling and customer workload management. Amazon EC2 provides on-demand scalable compute capacity powering some of the world's largest services. Collaborate with a top-tier engineering team to improve customer access to EC2 resources.

The ideal candidate will have strong software engineering experience, a passion for building and testing distributed systems, and an interest in applying Machine Learning and optimization techniques to large-scale problems. Proven experience in designing, building, and operating large-scale systems with strong fundamentals, an analytical approach, and excellent communication skills is essential. We work fast, in small teams, solving big problems.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience (non-internship) in professional software development
• Experience designing or architecting scalable, reliable systems
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, C++, or C# with object-oriented design skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build, testing, and operations
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
