Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Seattle is seeking a software engineer to design, build and operate highly distributed, large‑scale services such as DynamoDB.

You will translate requirements into detailed architectures, collaborate with a talented team, and deliver high-quality software on schedule while mentoring junior engineers and balancing performance with cost. A BS in CS or equivalent is preferred.

• 2+ years of non-internship design/architecture of systems experience.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

DynamoDB is a key-value and document database that delivers single-digit-millisecond performance at any scale. As one of the largest distributed database systems in the world, we continue to believe it is Day 1 for DynamoDB. We are looking for a deeply technical, team-first software development engineer to help us advance the product as our customer base continues to grow. DynamoDB engineers are constantly challenged to think of unique and innovative solutions. As an engineer here, you will exercise your intellectual curiosity, work with motivated teams of sharp individuals, and get insightful guidance from senior and principal engineers.

Key Responsibilities

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
