Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC in Seattle, WA is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to help drive the next phase of innovation for DynamoDB. This hands-on role requires end-to-end ownership of highly scalable distributed systems and solving hard problems at global scale.

You will design, implement and mentor, working with Principal engineers to raise the technical bar across the team and deliver low-latency services for millions of customers worldwide.

We continue to expand DynamoDB’s capabilities and scale, and we’re looking for a deeply technical, team-first Senior Software Development Engineer to help drive the next phase of innovation.

We continue to expand DynamoDB’s capabilities and scale, and we’re looking for a deeply technical, team-first Senior Software Development Engineer to help drive the next phase of innovation. DynamoDB engineers solve some of the hardest problems in distributed systems: global scale, high availability, fault tolerance, and millisecond latency at global traffic levels. You will build and evolve services that route massive volumes of customer traffic across thousands of machines, ensuring high throughput and low latency under constantly growing demand. The quality bar is exceptionally high, and the systems you build will directly power mission‑critical workloads for customers worldwide. This is a hands‑on role with end‑to‑end ownership. You will:

• Drive technical design and architecture for complex, distributed systems

• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across the team

You’ll work alongside highly motivated peers and receive mentorship from Principal and Senior Principal Engineers, while being expected to independently make high‑judgment technical decisions. Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
