Job summary
Amazon.com Services LLC in Herndon, VA is seeking a software engineer to help build scalable, secure, and highly available distributed microservices at Amazon scale. Join a collaborative team focused on compliance and security across AWS, mentoring junior developers and improving agile processes.
You will own critical services, write high-quality code with strong test coverage, and work on projects with high visibility across teams, all while prioritizing reliability and customer trust.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

- Write high-quality code with thorough test coverage as you mentor new developers so they can learn from your CRs.
- Find out what it takes to engineer systems for "Amazon Scale".
- Realize that making software work is just the start and you value talking about cattle-vs-pets, continuous resiliency and capacity testing.
- Truly care about designing highly available, secure, distributed systems of microservices, then you will make them even better by consulting with peers and technical leaders.
- Work on Agile projects that have high visibility while making continuous improvements to planning, design, implementation, testing, and operations processes.

Yup, that’s us too. Our services are used by external customers, security teams and service teams across AWS allowing our team a unique view across the whole landscape of AWS. AWS Artifact team is growing and launching new services and initiatives. The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
