Amazon Robotics Autonomous Fleet Services (AFS) seeks a Software Development Engineer to help build the Fleet Management system that orchestrates thousands of robots across complex logistics operations. You will own significant components end-to-end, designing features and shipping them into production while improving fault tolerance and scale.
You will work with stakeholders to refine designs, participate in design reviews, and contribute to the system's ability to handle dynamic floor
Amazon Robotics Autonomous Fleet Services (AFS) is building the intelligence that turns autonomous robots into fleets that work together. Our software orchestrates thousands of robots across some of the most complex logistics operations in the world, so that every robot, every task, and every minute counts. We are growing and seek a talented, enthusiastic, and motivated Software Development Engineer to help build our Fleet Management system.
The Fleet Management team builds the brain of the fleet: the system that sees everything happening on the floor, decides what every robot does next, and keeps operations running as conditions change around it. As an SDE on this team, you will own significant components of that system, from the services that turn arriving work into tasks to the logic that assigns and re-assigns those tasks as robots, floor space and deadlines shift. You will design and build features end to end, take them through code review and launch, and carry them in production once they are live. You will contribute to design reviews for systems other teams depend on, and grow into the calls that decide how the fleet behaves under load and under failure. The systems you help build will scale to thousands of robots working safely and efficiently alongside people, and grow as Amazon's robotics footprint expands across the globe.
The successful candidate is a hands-on builder with solid experience designing, building and operating scalable, highly available distributed systems in production. You are comfortable with ambiguity: taking a problem stated in terms of floor outcomes, asking the questions that sharpen it, and shipping incrementally without disrupting live operations. You reason from measured behavior rather than intuition, and you expect to be held to what the data says. Experience in areas such as distributed systems, task allocation and scheduling, resource management, event-driven architectures, and operating production services is desired. Familiarity with robotics, logistics, or warehouse automation is a plus.
