Software Development Engineer, Aurora Control Plane

Key Job Responsibilities

• Work with senior engineers to design and implement systems that orchestrate thousands of Aurora databases.
• Build a foundational platform consisting of web service APIs and workflows to make Aurora highly available, scalable, reliable, and fast.
• Architect, design, and implement highly scalable distributed database systems that provide availability, reliability, and performance guarantees.
• Develop rock‑solid software components and mentor junior engineers.
• Demonstrate strong communication, leadership, and customer focus while delivering high‑quality solutions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, and scaling).
• 1+ year of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
• 1+ year of designing and developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered, multi‑threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• 1+ year of object‑oriented design experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or foreign equivalent).
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN).
