We seek a Software Development Engineer passionate about games. In this role, you will contribute to a technical mandate on an AAA multiplayer online battle arena game built on Unreal 5. You will evaluate new technologies to enhance innovation, reliability, performance, and productivity, working with cutting-edge tech to craft next-generation experiences for players.

Key job responsibilities

1. Own optimization challenges within a moderate scope, focusing on CPU and GPU performance.
2. Prioritize optimization tasks in collaboration with leadership.
3. Analyze game performance using various tools, identifying and reporting issues.
4. Perform root cause analysis for performance problems, proposing mitigation strategies.
5. Assist developers in debugging and optimizing during testing phases.
6. Identify opportunities to improve testing, tooling, and workflows for better issue triaging and analysis.

About the team

At Amazon Games, our goal is to create innovative experiences that foster community. Our veteran team develops and publishes AAA multiplayer live service games and original IPs, including New World: Aeternum and a forthcoming Lord of the Rings title, with studios across Seattle, Orange County, San Diego, Montreal, and Bucharest. We also publish top-tier games in collaboration with developers like Smilegate RPG, NCSOFT, Glowmade, and Crystal Dynamics.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Professional software development experience (non-internship).
• Experience in designing or architecting systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scalability.
• Proficiency in C++ and game engines such as Unreal, Unity, or proprietary engines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience supporting game development, release, or live operations.
• Experience with full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
