Job summary

Steampunk, Inc. seeks a Software Development Architect (Drupal) in McLean, VA to design and implement cloud-based Drupal solutions with a DevSecOps mindset. You will lead modular micro-services, CI/CD, and test automation while ensuring security across platforms.

Required are 8+ years of full stack experience, Drupal expertise (8/9/10), and strong collaboration with stakeholders. You will mentor juniors and help drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced federal contracting context.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance.
• 8+ years of full stack development experience with Java, Ruby, React, C++, or C.
• 8+ years of Git SCM experience (GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket).
• 8+ years of scripting languages (Python, Bash, JavaScript).
• 5+ years cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP) and CI/CD tooling expertise.
• 3+ years hands-on Drupal experience with modules/themes/site config (Drupal 8/9/10).
• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and automated testing frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy modular micro-services and cloud-based systems, including Drupal-based webapplications.
• Understand stakeholder needs and translate them to developers.
• Write and debug code for Drupal modules and themes; ensure security best practices.
• Automate unit and functional tests and perform code reviews.
• Support production releases, deployment, and troubleshooting.
• Document code, features, and training guides; perform gap analyses.
• Leverage virtualization and containerization to modernize software systems.

Job description

Overview

As a Software Development Architect (Drupal), you will work with our growing DevSecOps practice delivering software features, APIs, and micro-service solutions. We are looking for candidates with at least 8 years of full stack development experience, including experience developing and maintaining Drupal-based web applications, using Agile and DevSecOps methods such as build/release management, CI/CD practices, and test automation.

Contributions

• Design, develop, and deploy modular micro-services and cloud-based systems, including Drupal-based webapplications
• Understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying this to other developers
• Write and debug code for innovative software solutions, including custom Drupal modules and themes
• Troubleshoot software quality,security and reliability issues
• Participate in code reviews and quality assurance activities
• Automate unit and functional tests
• Test and examine code written by others and analyzing results
• Evaluate,identify and develop complex software solutions using APIs, microservices, and cloud-native solutions
• Ensure that software is secure against cyber threats, including adherence to Drupal and web applicationsecurity best practices
• Identifying technical problems, performing root cause analysis, and developing software updates and ‘fixes’
• Support production releases (including deployment, troubleshooting, and testing)
• Document software code, features, and training guides
• Document as-is state of the environment, perform a gap analysis, and produce artifacts that articulate options and recommendations
• Leverage virtualization and containerization tooptimize and modernize software systems
• Act as an individual contributor and mentor more junior team members
• Engineer and implement solutions andprovide recommendations for continuous improvement for the services provided

Qualifications

Required:

• Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance
• BS Degree in an IT field OR BS in a non-IT field and 2 years related IT experience
• 8 Years of experience with one or more programming languages (Java, Ruby, react, C++, C)
• 8 Years of experience with Git SCM providers such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket
• 8 Years of experience with one or more programming or scripting languages (Python, Bash, JavaScript)

• Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance
• 5 Years of experience with one or more clouds (I.e. AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• 5 Years of experience using CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Pipelines, CircleCI, TravisCI
• 3+ years of hands-on Drupal experience to include developing custom Drupal modules, themes, and siteconfigurations (Drupal 8/9/10)
• Experience implementing docker containers and utilizing platforms such as Kubernetes
• Experience implementing Automated Testing frameworks including unit testing

Preferred:

• Experience integrating Drupal with APIs and backend servicesFamiliarity with Drupal security and accessibility best practices (e.g., Section 508)
• Certifications:
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner
  • AWS Solution Architect Professional
  • Azure Developer Associate
• 5 years of application development experience in an Agile environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills

The projected compensation range for this position is $112,000 to $225,000. The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
