Job summary

AMEWAS is seeking a Software Developer (Weapons Server Common Environment-WSCE)-Junior to support Battlespace Modeling & Simulation. The role is on-site with a salary range of $78,000 to $108,000, commensurate with experience, and requires DoD SAP access and a DoD Secret clearance.

You will develop software for an advanced synthetic training environment, integrate into flight simulators, and work within a DevOps workflow across Linux/Windows.

Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering; degrees in IT/Math/Physics/Aerospace/Software Systems/Electrical/Mechanical may qualify.
  • 1 year of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with scripting, databases and programming in C or C++.
  • Must be able to obtain DoD SAP Access and DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software for an advanced synthetic training environment.
  • Integrate software into flight simulators to support pilot training against threats.
  • Support software development, integration, training and demonstrations.
  • Apply standard programming patterns and object-oriented design.
  • Work within a DevOps environment with automated builds, testing, and deployment across OS platforms.

The Position:

AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Software Developer (Weapons Server Common Environment-WSCE)-Junior to support Battlespace Modeling & Simulation. The salary range of this position is $78,000.00 - $108,000.00, and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

The Simulation Applications and Architecture (SAA) Branch develops multiple modeling and simulation (M&S) tools in support of warfighter training; test and evaluation (T&E); data analysis; live, virtual, and constructive (LVC); research and development (R&D) activities for DoD agencies and its

international partners. The tools include the Global Reusable Interface Domain (GRID), the Weapons Server Common Environment (WSCE), the Simulation Control Executive (SCE), and the Architecture Management Integration Environment (AMIE). The SAA Branch designs, develops, documents,

and deploys these products and tools. The Battlespace Division delivers these products as part of an integrated suite of tools called the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) Technical Baseline (JTB); the battlespace for JSE.

A typical day as a Software Developer (Weapons Server Common Environment-WSCE)-Junior may include:

  • Develops software for an advanced synthetic training environment
  • Integrates software into flight simulators to support pilot training against potential threats
  • Supports software development, software integration, customer training and demonstrations
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of standard programming algorithms, design patterns and object-oriented software design
  • Works within existing DevOps environment including automating builds, testing and deploying software on multiple OS platforms
  • Evaluates and reviews C and C++ language code
  • Programs using C and C++
  • Develops software requiring parallel processing, threading and inter-process communication
  • Develops software to simulate complex environments or platforms in real-time
  • Collaborates with team members to design future enhancements

Must-haves:

  • BS Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering: Degrees in Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Aerospace, Software Systems, Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering may qualify
  • 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Experience with scripting, databases and programming in C or C++
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Special Access Program (SAP) Access
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Python3, CMake, CUDA, threaded programming and/or modeling and simulation
  • Experience with Software CM tools to include git
  • Experience with network-connected software development
  • Experience working in Linux and Windows environments

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:

The physical environment requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday. Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site. In some occasions, the employee may be required to report to offices or buildings near the work site. In rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.
