About the Role
Disney Entertainment & ESPN Product & Technology is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Build Tooling Software team. This role focuses on developing and supporting mission-critical infrastructure, custom tools, and shared libraries that help thousands of engineers and hundreds of teams deliver software quickly, reliably, and safely.
You will work hands-on with build, release, deployment, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, containers, and developer tooling while collaborating directly with application development teams to improve their software delivery experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with software engineers in a team-based development environment to achieve shared engineering goals.
- Build and maintain software that abstracts build, release, and deployment events for use across multiple development organizations.
- Understand the needs of thousands of developers and actively improve their development and delivery experience.
- Work directly with application development teams to identify needs and implement CI/CD best practices.
- Lead development of critical features and ensure solutions meet user needs and intended requirements.
- Support critical build systems and artifact storage systems used across the organization.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support systems and services during production incidents.
- Contribute to continuous improvements in software engineering, build tooling, and delivery processes.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Python, Java, C , C, or C#.
- Familiarity with Bash and/or PowerShell scripting.
- Understanding of modern collaborative software development lifecycles and workflows, including Scrum, Kanban, GitOps, monorepos, microservices, and feature flagging.
- Experience working with version-controlled environments and CI/CD workflows.
- Proficiency setting up and maintaining pipelines using at least one of the following:
- GitLab CI
- GitHub Actions
- TeamCity
- Jenkins
- Argo
- SonarQube
- In-depth knowledge of Linux, including file systems, user and group management, process control, permissions, SSH key management, and secure shell operations.
- Hands-on experience with AWS core services, including EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, and CloudWatch.
- Experience building, running, and debugging Docker containers.
- Operational knowledge of Kubernetes and Helm, including deploying workloads through manifests or Helm charts.
- Experience provisioning and managing infrastructure through code and configuration using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Familiarity with AI tooling within the software development lifecycle and its use in improving development processes.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with remote team members.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Broader knowledge of the AWS ecosystem beyond core services.
- Experience with additional cloud platforms.
- Experience working extensively with infrastructure automation and modern developer tooling.
- Experience supporting large-scale build, release, and deployment environments.

Compensation & Benefits
- New York, NY Salary Range: $148,700–$199,400 per year.
