Job summary

Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH is seeking a Software Developer / Scientist for the Research Data Management team. You will contribute to sustainable plant usage by developing algorithms and managing research data, focusing on bioeconomy.

Qualifications

Software Developer / Scientist – Research Data Management for FAIRagro

Do you want to contribute to sustainable plant usage through your work? Then you're in the right place at the Department of Bioinformatics (IBG-4) at the Institute of Bio- and Geosciences. Professor Usadel's team develops methods and algorithms to achieve a fundamental understanding of high-dimensional data and processes in bioeconomy, with a focus on data analysis, research data management, and data integration.

Your Job
  • You will implement central search services within the research data infrastructures developed by FAIRagro
  • You will be involved in the development of an inventory service that provides a searchable overview of all available infrastructures and repositories integrated into FAIRagro
  • You will work closely with colleagues dealing with research data management topics
  • You will present the scientific results at project meetings and international conferences and publish them in high-ranking scientific journals
Your Profile
  • Completed university degree (Bachelor or Master) in computer science, bioinformatics, or equivalent qualification
  • Practical experience in user-oriented web development projects
  • Good knowledge of database design and database applications
  • Experience with domain data from agricultural and/or plant sciences is advantageous
  • Excellent team spirit, communication, and organizational skills
  • Excellent English language skills in both written and spoken form (at least C1 level according to the CEFR: https://go.fzj.de/languagerequirements ), ideally supported by a certificate confirming the language level
  • Knowledge of German is a plus
