Job summary

E-J Electric Installation Co. is seeking a Ruby on Rails software developer to advance a BPM product in a remote role reporting to New York City.

You will contribute to a full-stack Rails app, leveraging Stimulus and Turbo, while collaborating with non-technical users to specify features. Ideal candidates have 4+ years of full stack experience, 2+ years Rails, and comfort in an early-stage product with dynamic requirements.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of full stack software development experience.
• 2+ years or more of Ruby on Rails experience.
• Mid-level design proficiency.
• Experience building enterprise-scale applications and workflow-driven systems.
• Hands-on experience with Active Directory, SSO, identity management, and enterprise security models.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar.

Position Summary

We’re looking for a Ruby on Rails Developer to help improve an early-stage Business Process Management (BPM) product. The ideal candidate is a dedicated Ruby developer with strong design skills who enjoys working in an early-stage product environment and understands what that entails. At times, they will be given a fully developed design specification; at other times, they will need to communicate with non-technical users, identify product requirements, and create the design specification themselves. This role requires comfort implementing modern UI/UX experiences using full-stack Rails, including a Rails backend and Stimulus/Turbo front end.

WhatYou’llDo

• Develop the future of BPM software in a tight knit team that has been developing for 2+ years, has acquired 100~ daily active users, and aims to expand our userbase exponentially.
• Implement new features end-to-end in Rails / Stimulus / Turbo.
• Communicate with non-technical users to surface product requirements and then create a feature spec.
• Iterate on existing features until the product feels both elegant and easy to use.
• Implement and support SSO, Active Directory, SAML, OAuth, and dynamic user provisioning.
• Develop document-centric features, including PDF generation, editing, and workflow integration.
• Integrate AI capabilities into customer-facing products and internal development processes.

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years of Full Stack software development experience.
• 2+ years or more of Ruby on Rails experience.
• Mid-level (or greater) design proficiency.
• Someone comfortable working in an early-stage environment with frequently changing product requirements.
• Experience building enterprise-scale applications and workflow-driven systems.
• Hands-on experience with Active Directory, SSO, identity management, and enterprise security models.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar.
• Has worked within a structured Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Policy.

Salary Range

$110,000 – $140,000/year, based on experience
