Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) in Huntsville, Alabama is seeking a Software Developer with Modeling, Simulation and Analysis experience to join our team and contribute to critical defense initiatives.

You will design and implement software, build and maintain models of orbital dynamics and sensor performance, run simulations, analyze results, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to optimize interceptor concepts in a DoD environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline; education accepted in lieu of degree.
• 9 years of software development experience in aerospace/defense domains.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills to convey technical concepts.
• Active Secret Clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret; US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Develop software, modeling, simulation, and analysis techniques for Space-Based Interceptor programs.
• Design and maintain models of orbital dynamics, sensor performance, and threat scenarios.
• Perform system-level assessments to optimize interceptor performance.
• Use simulation tools and ensure integration with real-time data.
• Support HWIL, SWIL, and digital integration for testing and verification.
• Ensure compliance with DoD regulations, policies, and security standards.

MTSI is currently seeking a Software Developer with Modeling, Simulation and Analysis experience to join our team in Huntsville, Alabama.

About the program:

You will be joining an advanced initiative aimed at enhancing missile defense capabilities by utilizing assets positioned in orbit to detect, track, and neutralize incoming threats before they reach their targets.

The effort involves integrating cutting‑edge sensor technologies, advanced guidance systems, and precision engagement mechanisms to address emerging threats, including ballistic and hypersonic missiles. By intercepting threats at critical points in their flight trajectory, these systems complement naval missile defense networks, providing an added layer of security to safeguard national interests and global stability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Development and application of software development, modeling, simulation, and analysis techniques to support Space-Based Interceptor programs.
• Design and maintain models of orbital dynamics, sensor performance, interceptor engagement analyses, and threat scenarios.
• Perform system-level assessments of design concepts, operational strategies, and system effectiveness to optimize interceptor performance.
• Use simulation tools and software, ensuring accurate integration with real‑time data.
• Support hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL), software-in-the-loop (SWIL), and digital integration efforts for test and verification.
• Ensure compliance with DoD regulations, policies, and security standards throughout development and analytical processes.

Required Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, physics, or a related technical discipline; education accepted in lieu of degree.

Technical Experience:

• 9 years of experience in software development (C++) modeling, simulation, or analysis within aerospace or defense domains.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills to communicate technical concepts effectively.

Desired Experience:

• Experience utilizing AFSIM
• Demonstrated knowledge of orbital mechanics, missile defense systems, and sensor technologies.
• Proficiency with simulation tools such as MATLAB, STK, Simulink, Python, or other modeling software.
• Experience in working with classified programs and knowledge of DoD security protocols.

Required Security Clearance:

• Must have an active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret ; US Citizenship required.
