Job summary

Svadharma Social Innovations in the United States is seeking a student or recent graduate for a hands-on internship to build production-style web applications. You will work across frontend and backend tasks using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and Node.js, gaining practical experience in real software development workflows.

Under mentorship, you will convert UI/UX designs into reusable components, integrate APIs, and contribute to testing, deployment, and maintenance.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in CS/IT degree or recent graduate with project work.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures and OOP.
• Experience with HTML, CSS, JS/TS and at least one frontend framework.
• Backend exposure with Node.js or Python is a plus.
• Familiar with REST APIs and SQL/NoSQL databases.

Job description

Role & responsibilities (WhatsApp Only)

• Develop responsive, user-friendly web interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React.js or a similar frontend framework.
• Build and maintain backend services and REST APIs using Node.js/Express.js, Python/Django/FastAPI, or a comparable stack.
• Work with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB for schema design, queries, and data management.
• Integrate frontend components with backend APIs, authentication systems, and third-party services.
• Convert UI/UX designs and product requirements into clean, reusable frontend components.
• Debug, test, troubleshoot, and optimize application features for performance and reliability.
• Write clean, maintainable, scalable, and well-documented code.
• Use Git and GitHub for version control, branching, pull requests, and collaborative development.
• Participate in code reviews, daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and technical discussions.
• Assist with application deployment, basic cloud hosting, and maintenance of live environments.
• Identify bugs, propose fixes, and improve application security, usability, and performance.
• Maintain technical documentation for assigned features and development processes.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors/Masters student or recent graduate in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or a related technical field; strong freshers with project experience may also apply.
• Solid understanding of programming fundamentals, data structures, and object-oriented programming.
• Hands-on knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and at least one frontend framework such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
• Basic to intermediate backend experience using Node.js/Express.js, Python, Java, or PHP.
• Understanding of REST APIs, JSON, client-server architecture, and API testing tools such as Postman.
• Familiarity with SQL and/or NoSQL databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
• Experience with Git/GitHub and collaborative development workflows.
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with a distributed team.
• Reliable laptop/desktop, stable internet connection, and availability for the agreed working hours.
• At least one academic, personal, freelance, or open-source full-stack project is highly preferred.
