Job summary

The Kentucky League of Cities is seeking a collaborative Software Developer for Insurance Technologies to build and support applications for Kentucky League of Cities Insurance Services. You will modernize systems, solve technical problems, and deliver reliable software.

Responsibilities include designing web apps with C# and ASP.NET, building REST APIs, maintaining SQL Server databases, and collaborating with project managers, vendors, and users to deliver secure, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

  • Education and experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, web application development, database development, or related field.
  • Professional experience developing web applications using C#, ASP.NET MVC, .NET Framework, and ASP.NET Core or modern .NET.
  • Ability to design, build, test, troubleshoot, deploy, and support secure, accessible, reliable, and maintainable production applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance web applications using C#, ASP.NET MVC, .NET Framework, and modern .NET.
  • Serve as a primary developer for the proprietary Claims and Underwriting system and related insurance technology solutions.
  • Build, test, debug, and deploy application features, enhancements, bug fixes, and integrations.
  • Develop and consume REST APIs, JSON-based services, third-party integrations, and system-to-system data exchanges.
  • Design and maintain SQL Server databases, queries, stored procedures, data models, and data access using Entity Framework or similar technologies.
  • Support and troubleshoot production applications, including performance, application, data, and user-reported issues.
  • Work with project managers, developers, vendors, stakeholders, and users to define requirements and deliver reliable software solutions.
  • Document application functionality and technical decisions and follow secure development, accessibility, testing, and source-control best practices.
  • Modernize existing applications and improve workflows, integrations, reporting, system stability, and maintainability.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Ability to design, build, test, troubleshoot, deploy, and support secure, accessible, reliable, and maintainable production applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with line-of-business applications in insurance, claims, underwriting, government, municipal, healthcare, or finance preferred; legacy .NET modernization and Azure experience are also preferred.
