Job summary

EKN Engineering is seeking a Software Developer II to drive full stack development for client-facing applications. You will maintain systems, implement incident response, and ensure service levels are met while collaborating with product teams and management.

Ideal candidates are hands-on, product-minded, and proficient in ReactJS, Docker/Kubernetes, and AI-assisted tooling. You will design scalable architectures and contribute to secure, reliable software across cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience as a full stack developer.
• Proficiency in ReactJS.
• Experience with message queuing technologies (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS).
• Experience with API communication patterns such as REST API, WebSockets, and RPC.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with system architecture, application design, database design and query optimization.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude Code, to support software design, implementation, testing, debugging, and documentation.
• Developing applications backed by RDBMS (e.g. PostgreSQL).
• Experience with AWS (Azure or GCP also considered).
• Experience with authentication and authorization standards (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect) and role-based access control
• Experience handling sensitive data, including encryption, secrets management and access controls
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Self-driven team player with ability to work independently and multi-task
• Proven record in setting and meeting project deadlines

Role Overview

The Software Developer II is responsible for full stack development for our client facing applications. The Software Developer II maintains applications and responds to incidents related to consistent operational status and assurance of established service levels. The ideal team member is motivated to serve, has excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to recognize new challenges, and creates solutions with input from technical teams, clients, and Management.

Essential Functions

• Develop full stack web applications to improve the speed and efficiency of software products and grow our overall product offering
• Design, develop, and maintain SaaS applications
• Responsible AI-assisted development, with AI-generated code verified through automated testing and code review
• Research and adapt to emerging technologies
• Assist in solutioning technology related problems
• Respond to after-hours emergencies as directed by management, including incident triage, root-cause analysis, and post-incident reviews
• Write and maintain automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
• Build, deploy and operate containerized services on Kubernetes through CI/CD pipelines

Other Responsibilities

• Maintain an elevated level of accountability, recognizing the high-profile nature and security sensitivity of customer data, and following secure handling practices for sensitive data.
• Work with Product Managers to refine requirements and acceptance criteria before development and provide estimates
• Continuously adhere to all company policies
• Assist other technology teams as needed
• And other responsibilities as assigned
