We are seeking a Structural Engineer / Engineering Software Developer for a Fortune 500 company serving the wood construction industry, which would be a great opportunity for someone with experience in structural engineering and software development looking to further their career in engineering software.

Role & Responsibilities

• Define business and engineering requirements for new structural engineering software functionality
• Interpret and implement provisions from IBC, ASCE 7, NDS, NBCC, CSA O86, and related standards in software
• Develop and document structural methodologies and engineering calculations that validate software results
• Design, develop, and refactor engineering functionality in existing platforms; resolve defects
• Lead and participate in code reviews
• Perform manual, exploratory, and regression testing; maintain test cases; track defects to resolution
• Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, QA, and Development to translate requirements into solutions

Essential Qualifications

• Experience in structural engineering and/or software development (years: [confirm])
• BS in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Ability to interpret building codes and standards
• Ability to develop engineering functionality within software toolsets; CAD experience
• Strong math foundation: algebra, trigonometry, geometry, calculus
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable with ambiguity, evolving requirements
• Strong communication with technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to work independently in a hybrid or remote, fast-paced environment

Bonus Qualifications

• Wood products, building products, or construction industry experience
• PE license or actively pursuing licensure
• Agile/SDLC; Visual Studio, C#, VB.NET, SQL, Azure DevOps
• Automated testing tools (UFT, FitNesse, Selenium)
• Structural engineering software experience; AI coding assistant experience
