Job summary

NYCM Insurance in the Town of Edmeston, NY is seeking a Software Developer (Hybrid) to write, test and refine software that supports our business processes. You will work with senior staff on coding tasks, follow established development procedures and contribute to data processing efforts.

This role requires the ability to collaborate with stakeholders, troubleshoot changes, maintain programming documentation and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with related experience.
• Experience with multiple programming languages and hands-on coding.
• Knowledge of current software development standards and practices.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify software to implement business processes.
• Code, test and debug software utilizing appropriate hardware, database and programming methods.
• Refine data and format final product.
• Test and develop programming modifications.
• Write and maintain programs as specified in programming requests following established company standards.
• Evaluate simple interrelationships between programs to avoid unintended impacts.
• Analyze performance and correct deficiencies with user consultation and supervisor approval.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand required changes or modifications.
• Resolve questions of program intent, data inputs/outputs and internal checks.
• Write and maintain programming documentation.
• Maintain confidentiality of processed data.
• Document programming problems and resolutions for future reference.
• Communicate project status through established procedures.
• Be available for additional hours as needed.

Job description

The Software Developer (Hybrid) is responsible for developing, coding and testing programming tasks assigned by senior staff members. This individual will perform a variety of programming assignments requiring knowledge of established development procedures and data processing requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Create and modify software to implement business processes.
• Code, test and debug software utilizing the appropriate hardware, database and programming methods.
• Refine data and format final product.
• Test and develop programming modifications.
• Write and maintain programs as specified in programming requests following established company standards and procedures.
• Evaluate simple interrelationships between programs such as whether a contemplated change in one part of a program would cause unwanted results in a related part.
• Analyze performance of programs and take action to correct deficiencies based on consultation with users and approval of supervisor.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gain understanding of needed changes or modifications of existing programs.
• Resolve questions of program intent, data input, output requirements and inclusion of internal checks and controls.
• Write and maintain programming documentation.
• Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed.
• Document programming problems and resolutions for future reference.
• Communicate project status through established procedures.
• Be available to work additional hours, as the business needs dictate.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High school diploma, or equivalent, with related experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

Market Range: 12 / Non-Exempt / 37.5 hours per week / Hybrid: 2 days in office per week

Salary Range: $69,232 - $115,387
