Job summary

Amentum seeks an Expert Software Engineer with 10+ years of experience to lead cloud-enabled software initiatives in a security-cleared environment. You will design, develop, and migrate legacy systems to modern cloud platforms, establish CI/CD, and guide cross-functional teams in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities include architecture, documentation, and collaboration with customers to deliver robust, secure software solutions across Windows and Linux platforms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of hands-on software development experience.
  • Experience with EKS/Kubernetes or other container orchestration software.
  • Proficiency in two or more languages: Python, NodeJS, Angular, JavaScript, C#, SQL.
  • Experience with cloud technologies and migrating systems to the cloud.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, Splunk, and diagramming applications.
  • Strong debugging, performance optimization, and DevOps practices.
  • Background in on-call support and operational monitoring of critical systems.
  • Clearance Required: TS/SCI w/ Poly.
  • Experience with design systems and component libraries.

  • Lead process groups to analyze and redesign business processes.

Job Summary

We are seeking a talented and experienced Expert Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of software development experience with a strong background in cloud technologies and development, information systems, and service-oriented architectures. The role requires proficiency in full-stack development, database design, DevOps, and the ability to migrate and modernize legacy applications to the cloud.

Responsibilities
  • Lead software development projects from requirements analysis through deployment and maintenance.
  • Design and develop software solutions, employing technologies such as Python, NodeJS, Angular, JavaScript, C#, SQL Server, Microsoft Windows Server, and Linux.
  • Experience with cloud technologies, migrating existing systems to the cloud, and establishing new CI/CD pipelines.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance system operations using tools like Splunk and Grafana/Prometheus.
  • Work with Jira and Confluence for agile management.
  • Produce technical documentation, including system designs, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to reverse engineer legacy codebases and produce UML models.
  • Support secure communications systems, ensuring compliance with operational and security standards.
  • Research, prototype, and recommend improvements to existing systems and architectures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex software, performance, and infrastructure issues.
  • Research and adopt emerging technologies to enhance system efficiency.
  • Communicate with clients on project specific activities and manage project related deliverables.
  • Facilitate process working groups to analyze existing processes and create new business strategies.
Requirements
  • Over 8 years of hands-on software development experience.
  • Experience with EKS/Kubernetes or other container orchestration software.
  • Hands-on experience with secure systems engineering, systems integration, and reverse engineering.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (at least two): Python, NodeJS, Angular, JavaScript, C#, SQL.
  • Experience with cloud technologies.
  • Experience working with tools like JIRA, Confluence, Splunk, and diagramming applications.
  • Strong skills in debugging, performance optimization, and DevOps practices.
  • Background in on-call support and operational monitoring of critical systems.
  • Clearance Required: TS/SCI w/ Poly.
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Design, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 10.
  • Preferred: Experience with AWS.
  • Experience with EKS or other container orchestration software.
  • Experience with design systems and component libraries.
  • Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Experience in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with high-availability systems and secure communications.

Compensation Details

$225,000.00 - $235,000.00 The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good-faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
