One of the world's most technically rigorous quantitative trading firms is hiring for a newly created role on their Software Development team. This is developer productivity engineering at the sharpest end of the industry - where the tools and pipelines you build sit directly beneath a firm whose edge depends on engineers shipping reliable software fast.
The Role
This is a hands-on software engineering position for someone who builds and owns the developer tooling, automation, and AI-assisted workflows that let engineers across the firm ship confidently. You'd be joining a new team with a clear mandate: remove friction, accelerate delivery, and bring AI-assisted engineering into the day-to-day workflow.
- Build and own CI/CD pipelines, build infrastructure, and test acceleration systems across a large, fast-moving codebase
- Implement internal AI coding workflows that let engineers delegate well-scoped work to coding agents
- Build auto-remediation flows that detect and fix common build failures without human intervention
- Evaluate and adopt new AI-powered developer tools, writing shared configurations and skills for agents like Claude Code and Codex
- Automate local development environment setup and reduce drift between local, CI, and production environments
- Build and maintain standard CLI tools, starter service templates, and IDE integrations used across engineering
- Work directly with engineering teams to understand where friction exists and build platform-level solutions that remove it
- Partner with engineering leadership to define and track developer productivity metrics
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience as an infrastructure-focused software engineer
- Deep, production-level Python expertise across the language and its ecosystem
- Experience building or maintaining developer tooling, CI/CD systems, or infrastructure at scale
- Hands-on experience using AI coding tools or agents in a real engineering workflow, including writing skills or configurations for them
- Experience working with C++ and Java
- Low ego - able to work both collaboratively and autonomously
- Strong communicator, comfortable working directly with engineering teams to understand and prioritise pain points
Preferred Skills (not required)
- Experience with build systems such as Bazel or similar at scale
- Familiarity with distributed build caching, merge queues, or automated release tooling
- Experience with agentic AI frameworks beyond standard tooling
- Prior experience in financial services or a latency-sensitive production environment
- Background at a large, high-calibre technology company is a strong fit
- Compensation is among the most competitive in the industry for this type of role
