The Head of Development owns PFM's engineering organization end-to-end. This is a high-ownership role for someone who leads from the front - writing code, making architectural decisions, and building with AI at their side. You will set the technical bar, drive consistent delivery, and be the bridge between engineering and company leadership. In a fast-moving environment, priorities shift without warning. You are expected to adapt immediately, re-prioritize without friction, and always be thinking 10 steps ahead - anticipating architectural needs, scaling challenges, and product directions before they are formally asked for. We expect you to be deeply hands-on with Claude Code and AI-assisted development: not as a buzzword, but as a core part of how you work every day. We are not looking for someone who simply manages a team. We are looking for a builder - someone who ships fast, holds the bar high, and uses AI as a genuine force multiplier. You will own engineering end-to-end, integrate Claude Code and AI- assisted workflows into every layer of development, and drive Prop Firm Match into its next phase of growth. Priorities shift. Requirements

• 10+ years building and scaling production applications. You are a strong engineer first - AI amplifies your output, it does not define your identity. Proven record of architecting and shipping complex, real-world systems from scratch Full-stack depth across the PFM stack -? not just familiarity, but hands-on production experience Ability to make architectural decisions with long-term reliability in mind, not short-term shortcuts Experience managing and scaling engineering teams with consistent delivery outcomes Adaptability and composure when priorities shift -? re-prioritizing without friction and without losing momentum Strategic foresight: consistently thinking 10 steps ahead of the current feature set, anticipating what the product and infrastructure will need before it is asked
• Experience building fintech, trading platforms, or data-intensive products
• Exposure to prop trading, brokerage systems, or financial infrastructure
• Experience scaling teams from early-stage to mid-size
• Structured approaches to managing and preventing technical debt at scale
• Contributions to open-source projects or published technical writing

Responsibilities

• Audit and raise the bar on codebase quality, architecture, and development workflows. Define and enforce standards in system design, scalability, and maintainability. Build systems that last -? not ones that require constant rework as we scale. Success looks like: Clean, scalable architecture, measurably reduced technical debt, and infrastructure that handles growth without breaking.
• Optimize sprint planning, estimation, and execution Introduce clear visibility into progress, blockers, and priorities The expectation is consistent, predictable delivery - at speed, without quality trade-offs. No missed timelines without early flags. No excuses. Success looks like: The team ships reliably. Timelines are realistic and met. Velocity is consistent sprint over sprint.
• Integrate Claude Code and AI-assisted workflows across the engineering organization. Define where AI delivers real acceleration: feature generation, test coverage, documentation, refactoring. Ensure engineers build genuine system understanding alongside AI usage - not dependency. Success looks like: Measurable velocity gains. AI is embedded in workflows. Engineers use it well and understand what they ship.
• Translate business goals into technical roadmaps with realistic timelines, clear trade-offs, and early risk flags. Interface confidently between engineering and the C-suite. Prevent technical debt before it accumulates. Scale the team deliberately: hire, onboard, and develop engineers who raise the bar Success looks like: Leadership has full confidence in technical delivery. Every sprint connects to company outcomes. The engineering team is stronger, faster, and more capable than when you? joined.
• Priorities at PFM shift fast. This is a feature of how we operate, not a bug. You must be able to pivot instantly when the roadmap changes, re-sequence work without losing momentum, and bring the team along without confusion or friction. More importantly, you should be anticipating those pivots before they happen - proactively flagging architectural implications, scaling constraints, and product dependencies so leadership is never caught off-guard. We want someone who thinks about where the product is going six months from now while shipping what is needed today. Success looks like: Leadership never has to explain a pivot twice. The team adapts fluidly. Architecture decisions made today account for where we are going tomorrow.
